We've Partnered Up With Solidatus

We recently partnered up with Solidatus - a company offering a simple, intuitive and flexible web-based application that allows organisations to rapidly discover, visualise and understand how data flows through their systems. Here, our Services Director David Hall introduces the product; having worked closely with it in recent weeks:
It isn’t often that you come across a new software company that amazes you with a product. I’m a big believer in simplicity and the way Solidatus gives insight to extreme complexity is brilliant.
We’ve been given the opportunity to dig deeply into the software and it’s fair to say that the more we dig, the more we find that we like.
There is something really refreshing about working with a small company that holds a real passion for their product.
Solving Data Lineage Difficulties
Like all good software, Solidatus was born out of a need to solve a problem that no one else seemed able to.
Up until now, we’ve tried to understand data by creating enormous data lineage spreadsheets that track every piece of data - but they rapidly become far too unwieldy to work with.
Large process documents can take up whole walls when printed, but they are immediately out of date once written. Ultimately, documentation lies unread since the day it was published.
Solidatus provides a solution to this common problem. The platform lets you rapidly (often in an automated fashion) ingest complex data lineage and processes into a living, breathing document.
It offers endless flexibility to tag the data so you can zoom in to see what you really need. Models can be worked on and merged, or complex models can be broken down into more simple ones.
An Example in Practice
Take the example above. The manual processes were unknown until we used Solidatus to map not only the flow of data, but also the hidden processes behind it.
We were struggling to understand where some customer data was coming from until we found a manually-maintained spreadsheet. In Solidatus terminology, that became a new layer.
We now understand that to enhance the client’s report, we need to either add more time to the manual process or, better still, replace the manual process with something automated so that time and money can be spent elsewhere.
At the heart of Solidatus is data lineage. The software provides a scalable platform that will save time and money, make sense of the mess and make the invisible visible.
So, not only can Solidatus aid your understanding of what happens to your data - it can also help you to plan improvements to systems. This fits in really well with our agile approach at Peak Indicators.
If we can rapidly map your legacy systems we can start to consolidate and stabilise your analytics platform; whilst focusing on its modernisation.
Without this detail, it is simply not possible to gain enough enough understanding to even get started on making improvements. The risk is too high.
How We Can Help?
We connect to vastly complex and dispersed systems; collating and transforming the data we work with into outputs that give businesses insight to make better, more informed decisions.
The compelling visualisations we build, however, mask extremely complex systems. Throw in manual processes, some politics, lack of documentation and a need for rapid change, and the difficulty of understanding where your data goes and what happens to it grows exponentially.
Peak Indicators can assist with this problem using Solidatus on areas including:
- Enhancing existing reporting with advanced analytics
- Understanding your data estate
- Replacing a legacy system
- Flagging GDPR-sensitive data
- Freeing up expensive resources through the automation of your current manual processes
No matter which of these areas you require help with, the starting point is understanding where you currently are. Contact our team to find out more.
